Description
Pain that happens in or around one or both testicles.
Self-care
Take a pain reliever such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, others) or acetaminophen (Tylenol). Wear an athletic supporter. Apply an ice pack or ice wrapped in a towel to the scrotum.
When to seek immediate medical care
See a healthcare professional right away for:
- Sudden, serious testicle pain.
- Testicle pain along with upset stomach, fever, chills or blood in the urine.
When to make a doctor's appointment
Make an appointment to see a healthcare professional for:
- Mild testicle pain that lasts longer than a few days.
- A lump or swelling in or around a testicle.
