Overview
A hypertensive crisis needs medical help right away. The very high blood pressure can cause a heart attack or stroke. It also can damage the eyes, brain and kidneys.
Symptoms
Symptoms may include chest pain, a very bad headache, blurry vision, upset stomach and vomiting. Some people may feel confused or have seizures.
Treatments
Medicines are used to lower blood pressure. Treatment also may include a hospital stay to watch for organ damage.
