Description

A common viral infection in young children that may cause high fever and a rash.

Overview

Roseola is a generally mild infection caused by 2 strains of herpes virus. It's common, usually affecting children by age 2. Adults can get it too, but that's not common.

Symptoms

Symptoms include several days of high fever, followed by a rash. The rash may appear as many small spots.

Treatments

Treatment includes bed rest, fluids, and medicine to reduce fever.
