Overview

Delusional parasitosis is a disease in which people firmly believe that they're infested by parasites, mites or worms or that fibers are in the skin. One form of delusional parasitosis is Morgellons disease.

Symptoms

Symptoms may include intense itching, sores, rashes, and a feeling that something is crawling on and under the skin. People with delusional parasitosis might also have a depressed mood and a hard time focusing.

Treatments

Find a healthcare team that acknowledges the concerns, does a thorough examination and talks through treatment options. Options may include mental health therapy and medicines for delusions, anxiety or depression.
